Henry River Mobile Veterinary Services strives to serve your large animal and small animal veterinary needs. We are available by appointment during the week and for emergency for current clients.

Henry River Mobile Veterinary Services was established in July 2014 by Dr. Nikki Schweizer Gooch. She had just completed her internship and wanted to move back to her hometown of Hickory, NC. The mobile practice works out of Dr. Nikki's residence.
At Henry River, we understand that pets are family and strive to help your family members get the care they need as soon as they need it; therefore, we are available by appt during the week and also will accept emergencies both during the week and on the weekends.

Dr. Nikki grew up in Hickory, NC. She went to college at North Carolina State University where she double majored in Animal Science and German. During her time at school she rode on the NC State Dressage Team, served as president of the club and went to Nationals twice! She then attended Veterinary School at NC State tracking in Food Animal medicine. Upon graduation she completed a Ruminant health and Reproduction Internship at NC State in June 2014.
In her free time she enjoys spending time with her son Max & truck dog Cooper, riding her horse Rea, who is famous in her own right because she is totally blind. She enjoys hiking with her husband Justin.

Sarah Layne, DVM
Dr. Sarah was born in Shelby, North Carolina. She lived in several places growing up including South Carolina and Georgia, however North Carolina always felt the most like home. She obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee where she majored in Animal Science. She then spent almost a year working on the univeristy dairy before pursuing her veterinary degree; which she obtained from the University of Tennessee. She joined the practice in the summer of 2021. In her free time Dr. Sarah enjoys backpacking with her husband and two dogs, horseback riding and working on her farm. She is very excited to meet all of the Henry River clients and their pets!
Claire Bublitz Giles, DVM
Dr. Claire grew up in Matthews, NC. She went to college at NC State University where she majored in Zoology then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at NC State as well as tracking in Food Animal Medicine. She most enjoys practicing ruminant medicine and loves goats and sheep. In her free time she loves to spend time with her husband and dog, Ivy, both outdoors hiking and indoors snuggling on the couch. She also loves working out, running, and reading.
Marisa Haas
Marisa joined the practice in 2017 as our veterinary technician. In 2021 she moved to an administrative position within the practice and is keeping things rolling smoothly behind the scenes. Born in Tennessee & raised in Burke County, NC. She has always been an animal lover and now has her own farm in Morganton, NC. She has 2 children & a variety of fur & feathered kids. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her chickens, riding horses, spending time with family, hiking and camping.
Pamela Brooks
Pam was born and raised in the foothills of North Carolina. Animals have always been her passion. She has primarily worked in dog training, pet grooming and vet med, obtaining her training during her time living in North Texas. Pam moved back home to North Carolina in 2020 to be near her family. Pam joined the Henry River Veterinary Team in 2022 as our veterinary technician. Her favorite animals to work on are horses, dogs and cats. You'll always see her with her sidekick Mika, a blue heeler cross from Texas! Pam enjoys trail rides and western dressage with rain, her Chincoteague/Arabian mare. When Pam and Mika aren't out on trails with Rain, they enjoy kayaking, hiking and AKC sports. When she isn't working for us you will see her with her grooming business Hoof and Paw.
Courtney Brittain
Courtney joined the practice in the early summer of 2021 as our part-time Veterinary Technician. Then in August of 2021 she moved up to our full time veterinary technician. She started out in a small animal clinic but her heart has always been with large animals. Courtney, her husband and 3 kids live on a small farm in Burke County, NC. In her free time she enjoys camping, fishing, taking her daughters to barrel races and riding 4- wheelers.
Sarah Aguirre
Sarah is our newest veterinary technician who joined us this summer. With a background working at a small animal clinic for a year, she has discovered her true passion for small and large animals. Sarah is working towards applying to vet school and aspires to become a large animal veterinarian. In her free time she loves to read, stay active, and spend time with family and friends.
